Barbados Experience Word Cloud

This project explored how visual storytelling and word associations can enhance cultural identity through design. Using user-generated input and thematic keywords, I created a word cloud in the shape of Barbados to highlight what locals and visitors emotionally associate with the island—such as "Family," "Sea Life," "Reggae Music," and "Good Vibes." The goal was to communicate the essence of the Barbados experience in a visually engaging, emotionally resonant way.

From a UX perspective, this exercise emphasized the power of visual hierarchy, typography, and spatial organization in conveying meaning. It also demonstrated how culturally grounded design elements can create more personal and memorable user experiences, especially when designing for tourism, education, or cultural heritage platforms. I personally enjoyed making this project because of my strong family ties to the island because my mother is from Barbados.
